Beef
& Bean Sandwich Ingredients: One half cup onions, chopped; Three tablespoons of bacon grease, One
half cup of apple cider vinegar, Two cans of pork & beans, One half cup dark
corn syrup, One pound of ground beef, Six slices of bacon, cooked and chopped;
Three tablespoons of brown sugar, One half teaspoon each of salt and pepper,
Three cups of shredded cabbage, and hamburger buns or French rolls. Preparation: Sauté onions in bacon grease for two to
three minutes. Stir in apple cider vinegar and cook for two minutes. Add two
cans of pork & beans to onion mixture and simmer for five minutes. Then add
the dark corn syrup and cook on low while preparing the ground beef. In another
sauté pan brown ground beef in a couple of tablespoons of bacon grease. Add
brown sugar and simmer for three minutes. Add bacon bits and mix with bean
mixture and cook for a couple of minutes. Split buns or French roles and butter
each side. Top one half of bun or roll with beef and bean mixture and garnish
with shredded cabbage. Serve immediately. |
