Chez Paul's English Toffee Ingredients: One pound butter, Two cups of
granulated sugar, Two and a half cups of whole almonds, One cup of chopped walnuts, Sixteen Preparation: Melt butter in a heavy pan and add sugar and almonds. On medium high heat bring mixture to a boil and cook until it reaches the hard crack stage, stirring constantly. Mixture will begin to smoke a little when ready-use your nose. Immediately pour into a buttered four sided cookie sheet and let cool. When cool, melt chocolate and spread over hardened candy and sprinkle with chopped walnuts, let chocolate harden before breaking up into manageable pieces.
