Breakfast Casserole

Ingredients: Six slices of bread buttered (with or without crust), Two cups of shredded cheddar cheese, One pound of thinly sliced ham or cooked crumbled sausage, One half pound of sliced mushrooms, one small can of chopped green chilies, Two cups of shredded jack cheese, Six eggs, Two cups of milk, Two teaspoons of salt, One half teaspoon of paprika, One teaspoon of chopped fresh basil or cilantro, One teaspoon of pepper, One half teaspoon of onion salt, One half teaspoon of dry mustard.

Using a 10 x 13 inch baking pan, place six slices of bread, buttered side down in bottom of pan. Sprinkle two cups of cheddar cheese on top. Then layer on the thinly sliced ham or sausage. Add layer of sliced mushrooms and diced chilies. Sprinkle two cups of jack cheese over mushrooms and chilies. Beat six eggs and add two cups of milk and the remaining ingredients (seasonings). Pour this mixture over all the ingredients in the baking pan. Cover with foil and chill overnight. When ready to cook, remove foil and bake at 350 degrees for fifty minutes. Let stand ten minutes before serving.
